MOON (Multi-center Orthopaedic Outcomes Network) consists of orthopaedic surgeons from several of the top orthopaedic institutions in the United States: Hospital for Special Surgery (New York, NY), Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic (Knoxville, TN), Orthopedic Institute (Sioux Falls, SD), The Ohio State University (Columbus, OH), University of California (San Francisco, CA), University of Colorado (Boulder, CO), University of Iowa (Iowa City, IA), Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN), and Washington University (St. Louis, MO). This group of doctors from around the country work together to do research with the hopes of giving patients with shoulder problems the best possible care.
What does the MOON Shoulder Group do?
By surveying patients on their first visit to the doctor and then again at routine follow-up visits, we hope to provide the larger medical community information that will help bring about the very best medical care for each and every patient. Right now we are doing a study about rotator cuff tears. We are trying to figure out why some patients with rotator cuff tears get better with therapy and others do not.
