Hand and Upper Extremity Research

large_handresearch.jpgThe Vanderbilt Hand & Upper Extremity Research Program is dedicated to improving patient care through clinical and academic research.  Our goal is to add clinically relevant information related to hand and upper extremity conditions to the medical literature by way of clinical trials, biomechanical studies, and case reviews.

Our research team includes four nationally published orthopaedic surgeons with over 55 years combined experience in hand and upper extremity orthopaedic surgery.

Shoulder and elbow arthroplasty, as with other surgical procedures, is an ever-evolving process. The purpose of the Shoulder and Elbow Arthroplasty publications is to provide an overview of the current state of shoulder and elbow arthroplasty. Both books are similarly structured and provide a historical review of past implants; pertinent surgical anatomy, indications, and approaches; currently available implants, surgical techniques, and rehabilitation; and finally, the results and complications of shoulder and elbow arthroplasty. Hopefully, these detailed insights will afford the reader a better understanding of the current state of shoulder and elbow arthroplasty. More information
